Community Access

Supporting meaningful participation in community activities, venues and social experiences.

What Is Community Access Support?

Community access support helps disabled people participate in activities, venues and experiences in their local community. This might include visiting parks, attending clubs, using shops and facilities, accessing leisure activities, or spending time in community spaces with others.

Support is tailored to each person's interests, preferences and needs. We work to remove barriers to access, build confidence, and facilitate genuine, meaningful inclusion.

How We Support Community Access

  • Practical Support: Transport, communication assistance, help understanding routines and expectations, sensory regulation support
  • Personal Support: Encouragement, troubleshooting challenges, advocacy, building relationships with venues and staff
  • Skill Building: Supporting development of skills needed for community participation (social communication, independent navigation, confidence)
  • Venue Liaison: Working with community venues and activity providers to promote accessible, inclusive environments
  • Regular Activities: Supporting regular participation in chosen activities, building familiarity and social connection

Who Might Benefit?

Community access support is designed for disabled children, young people and adults who:

  • Wish to participate in community activities but face barriers (physical, communication, sensory, anxiety, social)
  • Would benefit from consistent, supportive accompaniment to activities
  • Are developing independence and confidence in community settings
  • Need support to build relationships and social connection

Important: This is non-regulated support delivered in partnership with families and professionals. We do not provide regulated personal care, nursing care, or clinical treatment.
